Location: Fully Remote

About the Role

Join Hawk‑Eye Innovations (HEI) as a Principle Computer Vision Engineer on a freelance basis. This role focuses on developing real‑time skeletal, ball, and game object tracking systems across multiple sports. You'll work on advanced computer vision pipelines and mathematical models that power our world‑leading sports tracking technology.

Your work will contribute directly to live sporting events—solving complex, real‑world problems where accuracy and performance truly matter. You'll collaborate with engineers across teams to build, optimise, and deploy production‑grade systems that redefine how sport is seen and experienced.

Core Responsibilities
  • Design and implement computer vision algorithms for real‑time tracking across multiple sports.
  • Model behaviour from noisy inputs using robust mathematical and statistical methods.
  • Develop, test, and optimise C++ code for real‑world performance and reliability.
  • Prototype and experiment with vision techniques using OpenCV, CUDA, and numerical libraries.
  • Build internal tools for visualisation and debugging of vision pipelines.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align on goals, requirements, and delivery.
Technical Skills & Experience
  • Strong background in computer vision fundamentals (e.g., tracking, multi‑view geometry).
  • Proficiency in C++14 or newer.
  • Experience with performance optimisation for CPU and/or GPU.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills for modelling real‑world data.
  • Familiarity with OpenCV, Eigen, and other numerical or vision libraries.
  • Experience using Git or other version control systems in collaborative environments.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with CUDA or GPU‑based computation frameworks.
  • Exposure to sensor fusion, Kalman filters, or similar modelling techniques.
  • Familiarity with Python for prototyping or experimentation.
  • Experience in real‑time or embedded systems.
  • Interest or experience in sports technology.
