Job summary

Leonardo UK in Edinburgh is seeking experienced Software Engineers to join our Test Engineering community. You will contribute to software for radar projects and collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure architecture alignment and robust deliveries.

The role requires C/C++ in-industry experience, full SDLC knowledge, and autonomous work at senior levels. UK security clearance may apply, with a hybrid working arrangement and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• In-industry experience using C and/or C++.
• Autonomous senior-level working experience.
• Experience with the full Software Development Lifecycle.
• Developing low-level drivers and test software is a plus.
• Experience with NI TestStand, Visual Studio and test system environments.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Atlassian toolset.
• Knowledge of configuration management and peer reviews.

Responsibilities

• Establish and mature stakeholder needs, prioritising interests to determine optimum capability.
• Create high quality, well-documented code; manage changes and provide progress reports.

a Software Engineer you will

• Support creation and delivery of software solutions within a defined work package area, ensuring that the package meets all stakeholder requirements.
• Establish and mature stakeholder needs, associating/attributing priority, interest, influence and trading-off needs to determine optimum capability to solve stakeholders problems.
• Create high quality and robust code; for fully documenting and recording your work products; keeping them under configuration management and providing plans and reports on progress to your line manager.
• Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure architecture alignment with other elements of the programme.
• Contribute to the resolution of emerging issues by proposing and driving through solutions, escalating more complex risks and supporting definition of opportunities and risk mitigation options.

What we need from you

• In-industry experience of using the programming languages C and/or C++.
• Good quality industry experience and working autonomously at a senior level.
• Experience with the full Software Development Lifecycle.
• Demonstrable experience in the following areas will help you stand out:
• Developing Low Level Drivers
• Experience with NI TestStand
• Experience with Visual Studio
• Developing software for test system environments
• Developing software within a development process framework
• Experience of Agile development and Atlassian toolset
• Familiarity with configuration management tools, defect tracking and peer review

Salary Range

• Engineer £38000 - £50000
• Senior Engineer £45000 - £60000
• Principal Engineer £54000 - £70000

Where this vacancy is being recruited across more than one grade, the successful candidate will be appointed to a specific assessed grade, and the applicable salary range will be that associated with the grade of appointment.Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role, or a narrower hiring range published within that band, and is benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.
