Job Requirements

You’ll be working in the technology department: a small group (5‑6) working on the code that delivers our 20+ news and events websites. This role will involve working on bug fixes, features, integrating with 3rd parties and other business priorities such as improvements to our Content Management System product.

Who you are

Proficient in modern web technologies across the full stack

Experience with Laravel and its features (eloquent ORM, queues, events, form requests, api resources, etc.)

You pride yourself on writing clean, maintainable code

Experience with testing frameworks and writing automated tests (PHPUnit, Pest, Vitest, etc.)

Good understanding of APIs and client‑server communication

Knowledgeable and passionate about building performant, scalable applications

Strongly committed to best practices including accessibility, security, and code quality

Well‑organized and capable of managing your own workload

Confident in using developer tools such as package managers, CLI commands, database GUIs, Git etc.

Familiar with databases and data modeling (we use MongoDB and migrating to PostgreSQL)

Able to implement time‑and‑fault‑tolerant features that other developers can easily build upon

Understanding of performance optimization across the entire application stack

Skilled at learning and improving large legacy systems

Bonus requirements

Experience with third‑party services like Piano.io

Previous experience working with news / commercial content management systems

Proficiency with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud - we use Northflank)
