Job summary

IMSERV in the United Kingdom is seeking a senior engineering leader to own delivery for the Astral platform, guiding multi-vendor collaboration and establishing in-house capability within a fixed-term remit.

You will drive delivery cadence across partner teams, implement CI/CD and DevOps practices, and ensure a robust API-first, multi-tenant architecture. Ideal candidates have SaaS leadership, Azure, and remote-team management experience.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering SaaS platforms, ideally with re-platforming or tenant transition.
• Credible in C#/.NET, Angular and Azure to set standards without writing code daily.
• Proven delivery leadership in Agile environments with turnaround examples.
• Experience managing offshore/partner delivery and building in-house teams from partners.
• Strong product partnership instincts with backlog sizing and scope control.
• Evidence of stronger engineering discipline: testing, CI/CD, release management.
• Ability to deliver within a fixed-term remit with durable handover.
• Experience with AI coding tools and evaluating AI-enabled features.

Responsibilities

• Stand up engineering capability by hiring, forming cross-functional squads, and reducing key-person risk.
• Establish a delivery function with a documented operation and plan for a permanent team.
• Run and mature agile practices: planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives; unblock teams.
• Provide honest, evidence-based delivery reporting to leadership with risk forecasts.
• Lead, manage, and develop the engineering team across full-stack, data, and cloud/DevOps.
• Manage offshore development and support partners with SLAs and onboarding to operation.
• Run the Astral platform end to end: portal, API tier, data orchestration, rules engines.
• Set engineering standards across docs, code review, testing, CI/CD, and release discipline.
• Embed AI coding tools with review controls and production-ready AI features.

Job description

Salary: £75,000 - 78,000 per year

Requirements

• Track record leading software engineering delivery for a live SaaS product, ideally through a re-platforming or single-tenant to multi-tenant transition.
• Hands-on technical credibility in C#/.NET, Angular, and Azure, sufficient to set standards and earn the teams respect without being the person who must write the code.
• Proven delivery leadership in an agile environment, including turning around under-performing or under-planned delivery and making it predictable.
• Experience managing offshore and/or third-party delivery partners, and building an in-house team from a partner-led starting point.
• Strong product partnership instincts, including shaping and sizing a backlog with a Product Owner and holding the line on scope.
• Evidence of raising engineering discipline in testing, CI/CD, documentation, and release management in a real organisation.
• Comfortable with a time-boxed, fixed-term remit and able to deliver within the term while handing over a durable, well-documented operation.
• Modern delivery practice experience, including CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps culture.
• Practical, current use of AI coding assistants, and a working understanding of shipping LLM-backed product features, including evaluation, cost, and safety.
• Ability to lead remote and distributed engineers effectively.
• Credible in code review and architecture discussions, and comfortable as the technical escalation point.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the delivery cadence across the partner teams.
• Deliver the agreed programme milestones, including progress toward the multi-tenant, API-first architecture with the Technical Architect.
• Stand up our own engineering capability alongside the partners by hiring against an agreed plan, structuring the team into cross-functional squads, and progressively bringing critical knowledge and control in-house to reduce key-person risk.
• Establish a delivery function rather than personally remaining the only person holding cadence together, and leave a documented, sustainable operation and a recruitment and operating plan for a permanent team or successor.
• Run and mature agile practice, including planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives; unblock teams and manage dependencies and the critical path.
• Provide honest, evidence-based delivery reporting to leadership, including realistic forecasts and early escalation of risk.
• Lead, manage, and develop the engineering team across full-stack, data, and cloud/DevOps disciplines.
• Manage our offshore development and support partners as an effective, accountable extension of the team, including quality, SLAs, and onboarding to full operation.
• Run the Astral platform end to end, including the portal, API tier, data orchestration, and rules engines.
• Set and enforce engineering standards across documentation, code review, automated testing, CI/CD, environment management, and release discipline.
• Embed AI coding tools into daily practice with appropriate review and quality controls, and take the platforms AI features into production reliably.
