A leading defense technology company in Cheadle is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to oversee project management and ensure delivery of software packages. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in engineering project delivery and agile methodologies, with a focus on risk management and team leadership. This role is hybrid, combining remote work and office collaboration, and offers competitive benefits including a pension scheme and additional leave.
The role covers the related activities of Software Engineering Management (SWEM) and Software Work Package Management (SWPM).

Ensure relevant department/product/project management plans are kept up to date and that governance is applied for products/projects.
Ensure development is performed in accordance with these plans.
Liaise with project customers as required.
Plan, coordinate and monitor work performance; identify and manage risks during the Work Package lifecycle until closure.
Capture and monitor metrics appropriate to each lifecycle stage and implement plans to continually improve project/product development.
Review Engineering Forward Load with SWEM and Head of SW Delivery.
Contribute to bid activities regarding estimates, project scheduling and bid gate review inputs.
Proactively expand professional knowledge within and outside of Thales to develop skills in software, engineering and management.
Develop skills through training (on the job, classroom, e-learning), mentoring and feedback.
Encourage innovation and adoption of new technology and techniques.
Provide support to less experienced team members to ensure adherence to procedures and performance expectations.
Lead by example and apply the Thales Leadership model to foster a high-performing culture and coaching environment.
