Job summary

A leading defense contractor is seeking a Software Architect to contribute to a high-impact technical initiative. You will work remotely and be involved in shaping the next-generation platform, ensuring production readiness and defining architectural standards. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in complex environments and a strong knowledge of security principles, scalable systems, and modern software architecture.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in complex environments as a Software Architect or Senior Engineer.
• Strong understanding of scalable systems and modern software architecture.
• Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with teams.

Responsibilities

• Review experimental codebases and identify gaps for production readiness.
• Define and refine technical stories for refactoring and deployment.
• Develop conceptual diagrams and interaction models to guide development.

We're on the hunt for a seasoned Software Architect to join a high-impact technical initiative focused on security and scalable architecture. This is a contract role working alongside our internal Tech/Security Lead, with the potential to take on a non-lead but highly influential position in shaping our next-gen platform.

What You'll Be Doing

• Review experimental codebases and identify gaps for production readiness
• Define and refine technical stories for refactoring and deployment
• Identify and scope capability gaps across the architecture
• Develop conceptual diagrams and interaction models to guide development
• Define and document architectural capabilities and standards

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a Software Architect or Senior Engineer in complex environments
• Strong understanding of security principles, scalable systems, and modern software architecture
• Ability to translate experimental code into production-grade solutions
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Experience with conceptual modelling and technical storytelling
