About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Sociology Teacher to join our successful Social Sciences department. The ideal candidate will have a passion for inspiring students, a strong understanding of sociological theory and research methods, and the ability to deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons across Key Stage 4 and/or Key Stage 5.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in Sociology that challenge and motivate students.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and assessment design.
  • Track student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Support students in preparing for internal and external examinations (e.g., GCSE/A Level Sociology).
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training, and wider school life.
  • Foster a positive classroom environment that promotes curiosity, critical thinking, and respect.
Person Specification
Essential
  • A relevant degree in Sociology or a related subject.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching Sociology at GCSE and/or A Level.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and communication skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive and evidence-based teaching practices.
Desirable
  • Experience teaching other Social Science subjects (e.g., Psychology, Politics).
  • Experience with exam boards such as AQA or OCR.
  • A proven track record of strong student outcomes.
