Job summary

Shetland Islands Council seeks Social Workers in Adult Social Work based in Grantfield, Lerwick. The role covers mental health functions within an operational team, with flexible working options and temporary contracts for 18.5 or 37 hours per week.

• Rate of pay shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1.5523 per hour

Temporary Part Time posts for 18.5 and 37 hours per week, 52.18 weeks per year

18.5hpw post is a temporary contract for a period of approximately 2 years

37hpw post is a temporary contract for a period of approximately 1 year

• Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to a formal offer of employment being made
• The successful candidate will have to complete registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) when they begin in post
• A relocation package does not apply to this post
• We will pay interview expenses from within Shetland
• You must have the ability to travel throughout Shetland at short notice and where public transport is limited
