Location: Pontypool
Employment Type: Temporary (36 Weeks)

Hours: 37 hours per week
Reason for Hire: Vacancy – unable to recruit
Salary: PAYE: £29.22 per hour | Umbrella: £38.55 per hour

Are you a passionate and dedicated Social Worker looking to make a real difference within Adult Mental Health Services? Network Recruitment Wales is seeking one Social Worker to join Torfaen Adult Mental Health Social Work Team for a 36‑week temporary assignment. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a proactive, multi‑disciplinary service that supports adults experiencing mental distress across Torfaen.

What You’ll Do:
  • Deliver high-quality assessments and interventions to adults experiencing mental health challenges, promoting choice, control, and meaningful social inclusion.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to support recovery-focused outcomes aligned with the priorities of individuals.
  • Manage complex cases, applying robust assessment and risk management skills.
  • Engage in positive risk taking and develop person-centred plans that support independence and well‑being.
  • Work effectively within community and hospital settings as part of a dynamic, supportive multi‑disciplinary team.
  • If not already qualified, undertake the Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) training, as required by TCBC.
  • For qualified AMHPs, participate in the AMHP rota (market supplement information available on request).
What We’re Looking For:
  • A qualified and registered Social Worker (Social Care Wales or equivalent).
  • AMHP qualification desirable; willingness to undertake AMHP course is essential if not already held.
  • Strong assessment, decision‑making, and risk‑management capabilities.
  • Experience working within mental health services or adult social care settings.
  • Effective communication and partnership‑working skills.
  • Flexibility, enthusiasm, and commitment to supporting adults in both community and hospital environments.
Essential Requirements:
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Criminal Convictions Declaration.
  • Signed Confidentiality Agreement.
  • 2 years of references / work history.
