Job description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Social Worker to join the Safeguarding Team in Pontefract. This ongoing role offers flexible working arrangements and a competitive hourly rate of £30. Purpose of the Role

To deliver statutory safeguarding services for children and young people where there are concerns regarding harm or risk. The Social Worker will complete timely assessments, implement protective plans, and work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children in the Wakefield locality.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake safeguarding enquiries, including Section 47 investigations, to ensure children are protected.

Identify and address risk factors, putting in place early interventions when appropriate.

Complete statutory assessments and develop clear, robust child protection and support plans.

Engage directly with children, ensuring their views and wishes are central to planning and decision-making.

Manage a varied caseload, maintaining high-quality, evidence-based written assessments and reports.

Collaborate effectively with police, health, education, and voluntary sector partners to support coordinated safeguarding practice.

Maintain professional registration with Social Work England and adhere to regulatory and ethical standards.
