Opus People Solutions Ltd is supporting Northamptonshire Children’s Trust to recruit an experienced Social Worker for its Safeguarding Team in Corby. You will conduct comprehensive assessments, manage risk and deliver safeguarding plans focused on the child’s wellbeing and lived experience.

Working in a multi-agency environment with health, education, police and safeguarding partners, you will advocate for children, maintain records and ensure statutory duties are met to secure long-term family

Qualifications

  • Qualified Social Worker with SW England registration.
  • Experience in Children’s Safeguarding, Child Protection, CIN, Assessment or Family Support.
  • Strong assessment and risk management skills.
  • Experience managing complex caseloads within Children’s Services.
  • Sound knowledge of legislation, safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working in multi-agency environments.
  • Child-centred approach and commitment to high-quality practice.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive assessments of children and families to identify risk, need and vulnerability.
  • Develop, implement and review safeguarding plans and interventions.
  • Manage risk and undertake timely safeguarding actions and care planning.
  • Provide support, guidance and advocacy to children and families.
  • Ensure the child’s voice is central to assessments and decisions.
  • Collaborate with health, education, police and safeguarding partners.
  • Monitor welfare and ensure statutory duties are met.
  • Maintain high-quality case recordings and reports.
  • Participate in strategy discussions, conferences, core groups and court proceedings.
  • Promote safety, wellbeing and long-term stability of children and young people.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and local authority policies.

About the Role

Northamptonshire Children's Trust is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join its Safeguarding Team based in Corby.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work with children and families, ensuring children are protected from harm and supported to achieve positive outcomes. You will be responsible for completing comprehensive assessments, managing risk, and delivering effective interventions that place the child's wellbeing and lived experience at the centre of practice.

Working within a supportive multi-agency environment, you will collaborate with professionals across health, education, police, and partner agencies to safeguard children and provide long-term stability for families.

Location: Gainsborough Road Resource Centre, School Place, Corby, NN18 0QP

Pay Rate: £38 per hour

Hours: 37 hours per week

Working Pattern: Minimum 3 days per week in the office

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake comprehensive assessments of children and families to identify risk, need, and vulnerability.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, safeguarding procedures, and local authority policies.
Skills/Experience
  • Qualified Social Worker status and Social Work England registration.
  • Experience within Children's Safeguarding, Child Protection, CIN, Assessment, or Family Support teams.
  • Strong assessment and risk management skills.
  • Experience managing complex caseloads within Children's Services.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working effectively within multi-agency environments.
  • Confidence in making informed decisions that achieve positive outcomes for children and families.
  • A child-centred approach and commitment to high-quality social work practice.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975. This role may be eligible for a DBS check, applicants are required to declare any cautions and convictions that are not protected under current filtering rules.
