Job summary

Walsall Council, in partnership with Walsall Health Care NHS Trust, seeks a Social Worker (Grade G9) to support adults, carers and families. The role focuses on safeguarding, discharge planning, and promoting independence following acute illness or hospital admission.

You will carry out statutory duties under the Care Act and MCA. The team offers supervision, career development, and access to post-qualifying training.

Qualifications

• Experience safeguarding adults established in previous roles.
• Registered with Social Work England.
• Experience with statutory duties under Care Act and Mental Capacity Act.

ICS is a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team operated jointly between Walsall Health Care NHS Trust and Walsall Council Adult Social Care. We are a dynamic, welcoming team working with adults, their carer’s and families. The role entails supporting individuals to maximise their full potential, and promote their independence following an acute episode of illness or hospital admission. The team supports with hospital discharge, rehabilitation, crisis intervention and preventing hospital admissions. We are committed to working in collaboration with partner agencies to achieve positive outcome for individuals.

We adopt a strength based approach in our practice and outcome focused support planning. Applicants are required to have experience of safeguarding adults. The social worker role is expected to undertake statutory duties in line with the Care Act and Mental Capacity Act, and undertake duties expected of social workers in line with their Professional Capabilities Framework.
