Job summary

A leading social care recruitment agency is seeking a Social Worker for the Life Planning Team in Barking & Dagenham. You will provide effective social work services to children with disabilities and their families, progress care plans, and manage complex cases to ensure their welfare and independence. The ideal candidate has a social work qualification and experience adhering to relevant legislation. Salary up to £46,041 per annum.

Job description

Sanctuary Personnel has a permanent Social Worker position in the Life Planning Team based in Barking & Dagenham. Salary up to £46,041 per annum.

  • Provide effective social work services to children and young people with disabilities and their families, safeguarding and promoting their welfare, wellbeing and independence.
  • Formulate and progress care plans in line with national and local procedures.
  • Ensure that the health and education needs of all children in care are met in accordance with National Standards.
  • Adhere to all procedural requirements for reviewing, consultation and recording.
  • Support the development of systemic practice across the Children’s Social Care Division.
  • Carry a caseload of the most complex cases including complex safeguarding enquiries, complex family proceedings and children deemed to be at high risk of significant harm.
  • Record to a high standard, capturing the voice of the child and demonstrating evidence of analysis and reflection throughout.
  • Provide support and mentoring to less experienced colleagues.
  • Work within London Child Protection procedures to undertake key work responsibilities for children subject to a child protection plan.
  • Deputise for the Consultant Social Worker where required.
  • Identify appropriate systems of support with service users, families and carers to enable them to maintain and improve their quality of life independently.
  • Maintain high standards of record keeping on the Council’s electronic systems, ensuring information is timely, accurate and complete.
  • Actively participate in line management and professional supervision, team meetings and performance management processes to improve the service.

Requirements of this role:

  • A social work qualification or equivalent.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Registered or eligible for registration.
  • Registration with the relevant health professional council/governing body (Social Care England).
