A state health department is seeking a Social Worker to provide essential mental health services in the school setting for children ages 3 to PreK. Candidates should possess a Master's degree in Social Work and a Maryland social work license. Experience with young children and in school environments is desirable. The role involves assessments, treatment planning, and case management to support children and their families.

The main purpose of this full‑time position will be to provide direct social work services and mental health treatment in the school setting to children ages 3‑PreK and their families, as an extension of the School‑Based Wellness Center program. This involves consultation with school personnel professionals in the community, and other service providers. The social worker will conduct assessments with student clients and their families to evaluate the nature and degree of needs, develop a treatment plan and provide ongoing therapy and/or referrals as deemed indicated by the assessment. Therapy may be individual, family or group and include case management. The social worker will also link children and families to additional support services necessary and provide case management in conjunction with school personnel. In addition, the social worker will keep accurate and timely documentation according to COMAR as well as provide data necessary for reports to funding sources.
1. Candidates must be licensed as a Certified Social Worker or Certified Social Worker, Clinical by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners prior to appointment to a position in State service. Applicants who do not have a license may also apply pending receipt of the required license. When the license is obtained, submit a copy to the Maryland Department of Health Testing Unit. 2. Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess an appropriate operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
