Job summary

Southend City Council is seeking a permanent full-time Qualified Social Worker to join one of six Families First Service Teams. You will work directly with children, young people, and families to create lasting change, building trust and using a restorative, relational approach.

You will assess needs and risks with the child’s lived experience at the centre, shaping plans that promote safety, stability, and long-term wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Recognised Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
• ASYE completion is required.
• Experience in Children’s Frontline services with knowledge of child protection is essential.
• Ability to analyse new cases and determine appropriate action.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with children, young people and families to create positive change.
• Build strong relationships through a restorative, relational approach.
• Assess need and risk with the child’s lived experience at the centre.
• Shape high-quality plans to promote safety, stability and wellbeing.
