Orkney Health and Social Care Partnership is committed to improving outcomes for our children, young people and families, and to delivering Scotland’s Promise. We are currently recruiting Social Workers who are keen to promote strengths based and solution focused practice, and who can demonstrate drive and passion for direct work with families.

You will be part of a small team covering the full range of statutory duties and we will provide regular supervision and guidance within a supportive team. We pride ourselves on our recent improvements on strengths based approaches to assessment, intervention and meaningful participation from our children and young people. The health and social care partnership is committed to developing preventative and non-statutory support and is embarking on an exciting development of multi-agency whole family wellbeing support, to ensure children and their families receive the right type of support at the earliest opportunity.

We have invested time and finances into our approaches, including developing social pedagogy and systemic practice. We are committed to encouraging and supporting our staff to develop their career through local and national training opportunities and have a continuing professional development pathway, which focuses on supporting Social Workers to progress their professional knowledge and skills in line with their personal aspirations.

If you want to join our dedicated and supportive team we would love to hear from you. Applications are welcome from qualified Social Workers with all types of experience. Whether you have been qualified for a number of years and keen for a new challenge or you are newly qualified and are bringing skills and experiences from your own life and learning.

You will hold a degree or post graduate qualification in Social Work, which allows registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as a Social Worker. You must be registered with SSSC, although applications from candidates currently in process of registration may be considered.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
