Job summary

Scottish Borders Council is seeking a motivated Social Worker to join the CHAD team, focused on children with disabilities and their families. The role involves managing a caseload, reviewing packages, and providing targeted support where needed.

The position welcomes both full-time and part-time applicants with flexible hours, offering development opportunities and collaboration across the multi-agency network. Temporary contract until April 2028.

Qualifications

• Professional social work qualification recognised by the SSSC (Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or CQSW).
• Registration with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
• PVG scheme clearance is required.
• A current UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assess and support children with disabilities and their families, coordinating plans and services.
• Manage your own caseload and review support packages for looked-after and at-risk children.
• Provide direct support and intervention to children and families where required.
• Collaborate with social work colleagues and multi-agency partners to safeguard and promote welfare.
