Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated Qualified Social Worker looking for a challenging and rewarding role at the front line of children’s services? Join our dynamic Assessment Team at North Somerset Council, where your skills will be essential in protecting vulnerable children and shaping their future.

The Role : Core Duties and Responsibilities

As a Social Worker in the Assessment Team, you will be responsible for the crucial initial stage of safeguarding. You will work quickly and decisively to gather information, assess risk, and determine the needs of children and their families.

Key Duties :
  • Undertaking Single and Multi-Agency Assessments within statutory timescales, ensuring that the child’s voice and needs are central to the process.
  • Conducting Section 47 enquiries in partnership with police and other professionals to determine if a child is suffering or is likely to suffer significant harm.
  • Developing and implementing initial Child in Need (CIN) plans or initiating Child Protection procedures as required.
  • Preparing for and presenting cases at statutory meetings and court hearings, including writing detailed reports and providing clear evidence.
  • Working collaboratively with a range of professionals, including schools, health services, and early help providers, to ensure a coordinated response.
  • Managing a complex and demanding caseload while prioritising safety and well‑being.
  • Providing support and advice to families, empowering them to make positive changes.
What We Are Looking For

  • You must be a Social Work England registered Social Worker.
  • Experience working within an Assessment or Front Door service is highly desirable.
