Social Worker – Adoption Specialist in Wirral, UK, earning £33.97 per hour on an ongoing full-time contract. This is an exciting opportunity to join Adoption in Merseyside, a newly formed shared service integrating adoption services across Wirral, Liverpool, Sefton, and Knowsley. As a Social Worker in Adoption, you will be a vital part of a team dedicated to providing a high-quality adoption service. Your role will predominantly be home-based, with expectations of occasional travel to team meetings and visits. This position, funded by Wirral Borough Council on a secondment arrangement to Knowsley Borough Council, seeks experienced practitioners ready to make a difference in the lives of children and adopters.

  • Provide ongoing support to adopters and children, maintaining a strong link with local authorities to ensure children are placed in stable, thriving adoptive families.
  • Support regional initiatives aligned with the Department for Education’s mandate to regionalise adoption services, facilitating collaboration across multiple local authorities.
  • Partake in regular team meetings and client visits to maintain cohesive working relationships and ensure the delivery of top-notch adoption services.
Requirements of the Social Worker
  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant frontline experience in Social Services within the UK working as a qualified Social Worker
