This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Social Work Team Manager to join the Care Leavers Team in Cheshire. This ongoing locum role offers excellent flexibility with full-time or part-time options and a highly competitive hourly rate. You will play a pivotal role in supporting young people aged 16–25 as they transition from care to independent adulthood, while providing strong leadership and strategic direction to your team.

What you will do:
  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of Personal Advisors and Social Workers, providing regular supervision and professional support.
  • Fulfil statutory duties under the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000, ensuring high-quality services and strong corporate parenting practice.
  • Oversee and quality-assure complex cases, maintaining high standards and compliance with statutory and local practice requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with housing, education, health, employment services, and voluntary organisations to deliver effective multi-agency support.
  • Contribute to service development, using performance data and feedback from young people to drive continuous improvement.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
  • Significant post-qualifying experience within Care Leavers / Leaving Care services.
  • Proven experience in team management or senior practitioner roles within children’s social care.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, safeguarding, and corporate parenting responsibilities.
