Social Media Marketing Strategist

About the Role

As Social Strategist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing the social media presence of our flagship Advanced journal brand. Working closely with the Advanced marketing team and other key stakeholders, you will develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with the Advanced Portfolio brand and goals. Adhering to Wiley’s social strategy policies and guidelines, you will collaborate with journal editors, as well as marketing, PR and publicity colleagues, to create compelling content, establish and amplify our brand voice, and drive followers for the Advanced Portfolio on social channels. Identifying platform‑specific opportunities across the range of channels will be key, with an emphasis on LinkedIn and Bluesky. Working with both organic and paid social media, you will have experience of planning campaigns and targeting audiences, as well as measuring results, pivoting, A/B testing and providing reports for key stakeholders. You will have a good understanding of how to tell a compelling brand story consistently and effectively and have ideas for maximizing the potential for user‑generated content that will drive awareness. This role requires an appreciation of scientific research and discovery, as well as creativity, attention to detail, and strong project management skills. You’ll be self‑motivated, with a broad understanding of branding, audience engagement, and marketing communication best practices—ready to make a measurable impact on journal performance and Open Access growth.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Understands the macro market environment and competitive environment for the Advanced Portfolio
  • Creates and follows strategic social plan each year
  • Understands social user behavior as well as the needs of researchers and authors
  • Manages and drives social content calendar
  • Collaborates with Editorial stakeholders to align on content
  • Owns Advanced Portfolio voice on socials: ensures consistent brand voice across platforms, responds/reacts to tags, mentions, DMs, builds followers, acts as key POC between Wiley’s Advanced and Social Media teams
  • Develops campaigns to amplify new events and offerings from the Advanced Portfolio across paid social channels
  • Undertakes social listening to identify key opinion leaders, emerging trends, topics our target audiences are engaging with, competitor activities, potential for user‑generated content
  • Makes recommendations for social media activities and content that will set our Advanced Portfolio brand apart from the competition
