Job description
Social Media Manager

Remote working in the UK.

Full-time (35 hours per week), permanent role.

As our Social Media Manager, you’ll help us tell our story, grow our reach and inspire action for our ocean.

Working with some of the most compelling content around, this role will be at the heart of how we connect with our audiences and bring our work to life. You’ll shape our social media strategy, lead social content planning, and ensure that our channels are powerful drivers of engagement, support and action.

About you

If you’ve led on engaging social media campaigns that cut through, then we want to hear from you.

You bring together creative ideas and a sharp analytical eye, using insights to shape content that connects. You know how to turn complex messages into something clear and engaging, and how to adapt your approach to make each channel shine. You’re confident leading cross-team planning, writing clear creative briefs, and using data to guide your decisions.

You understand how organic and paid social work hand in hand, and you’re comfortable teaming up with agencies to deliver results. You value accessibility and inclusion, and you’re happy setting high standards and supporting others to meet them.

Why join us

Supported by a friendly digital team, our Social Media Manager will play a crucial role in telling our story and restoring the health of our ocean.

From engagement-led content to campaigns and fundraising, we never get bored(!) and as well as a collaborative, creative working environment, we are pleased to offer competitive benefits too.

We are a leading UK environmental charity dedicated to protecting our ocean - defending crucial habitats, regenerating vital ecosystems and inspiring volunteers. We unite communities, governments, and industry, and champion science-based solutions for cleaner, healthier seas to tackle the climate and nature emergency.

The Benefits
  • Salary of £32,000 - £35,500 per annum
  • 25 days’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays (increasing with service)
  • Extra time off at Christmas
  • 8% employer pension contributions (no match required)
  • Sick pay at full pay for 8 weeks, then 8 weeks at half pay (after probation)
  • Flexible working and remote-first approach
  • Health and wellbeing support, plus an employee assistance programme
  • A paid volunteering day to support a charity of your choice
  • Cycle-to-work scheme

This role can be home-based in the UK, and you must be able to evidence your ability to work in the UK (we are not able to sponsor a visa). Occasional travel to external meetings, events, and other locations (e.g. London and/or Edinburgh) is expected and may require overnight stays.

Other organisations may call this role Social Media and Content Manager, Content Manager, Digital Marketing Manager, Content Marketing Manager, or Social Media Strategist.
