Social Communication Learning Lead - Long-Term Role – Chelmsford, Essex – Long-Term contract – £90-£110 per day (depending on experience)

Academics are working closely with a welcoming and inclusive school in Chelmsford who are seeking a Social Communication Learning Lead to join their dedicated team. This is an exciting long-term opportunity to support children who are not yet ready to access the mainstream classroom, helping them build confidence, communication skills and readiness to learn.

In this role, you will lead a small team of practitioners and deliver a tailored curriculum that develops pupils\' social communication, awareness and participation—enabling them to gradually reintegrate into mainstream learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and assess pupils who require additional support with social communication and engagement.
  • Design and deliver bespoke learning programmes and individualised support plans.
  • Lead and guide practitioners within your team to ensure effective, consistent delivery.
  • Collaborate with teachers, families, and external professionals to coordinate specialist input.
  • Provide staff training and model best practice in social communication support.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of interventions, using data to inform progress.
Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting pupils with social communication needs (e.g. ASD, SEMH, SLCN).
  • Background in education, psychology or a related field preferred but not essential for experienced candidates.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide others.
  • Proactive, organised, and reflective approach to supporting children\'s development.
