Purpose of the Role

Lead and manage the Children with Disabilities Social Work Team, ensuring services are delivered effectively and safeguarding standards are upheld. Provide professional leadership, supervision, and performance management while driving service improvements and multi-agency collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of social workers and support staff, fostering continuous improvement.
  • Provide professional supervision, appraisal, and performance management.
  • Oversee delivery of statutory services, including safeguarding and child protection.
  • Ensure high-quality care planning and risk management, supporting smooth transitions to adult services.
  • Audit casework and contribute to service development and policy implementation.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships across agencies to provide integrated support for families.
Person Specification

Qualifications & Registration

Recognised Social Work qualification (DipSW, CQSW, BA/MA in Social Work).

Current registration with Social Work England.

Evidence of ongoing CPD.

Extensive post-qualification experience in children’s social care.

Experience managing or supervising social work teams.

Strong knowledge of legislation and guidance, particularly in safeguarding and disabilities.

Proven track record leading teams through change and service improvements.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage complex workloads and competing priorities.
  • Excellent understanding of disability issues and SEND frameworks.
  • Outstanding communication skills for engaging families and partner agencies.
