A community support organization in Swansea is seeking a personal assistant to help a teenage boy with special needs build independence and social skills. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with complex needs, be adaptable, patient, and possess a friendly demeanor. The job includes evening and weekend hours at a pay rate of £12.75 per hour.
I am a teenage boy who has global development delay, psychosis which is managed with medication and a chromosomal deletion which brings a variety of special needs. I enjoy history and ancestry and enjoy asking questions on anything, sometimes they can be personal. I am a funny boy who enjoys singing. I love going to charity shops and love eating, which needs to monitored. I have dyspraxia and hypermobility and walking can sometimes be hard for me. Sometimes I need support with social norms, like asking appropriate questions. I need help looking out for danger, and need support building up my independence skills.
Driver required to take me out.
Male / female preferred.
Hours of work: Evenings and/or weekends.
Rate of pay: £12.75
I’d like support with taking my medication when needed (training and support provided).
A trial period will be necessary in the first instance in the form of a six-month probationary period. Salary will be paid monthly (Annual leave is calculated on a pro rata basis). A DBS MUST be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where applicant is eligible.
