Job summary

A personal assistance service is looking for a supportive individual to assist a young man with daily living tasks in Newton, Wales. Your role will involve mobility support, assistance with eating and drinking, and other tasks as his condition changes. The ideal candidate should be adaptable, have experience, and preferably speak Welsh. A trial period will be necessary, and a DBS check is required.

Please note this is not a Swansea city council job. You will be working with a private client who received direct payments.

A little about myself:
I am a young man living at home with my parents in Langland. I have ME (also known as CFS or chronic fatigue syndrome) which severely effects my daily living. At present I am bedbound all day and need help with eating and drinking and moving from room to room in a wheelchair.

Driver required.

Female Preferred.

Hours of work
Will vary, but initially 2 hours per day. You will need to be able to do full days when required by agreement. This could be at weekends.

Rate of pay.
£13.13

Essential:
I need you to help with:
• Getting from room to room, mainly to go to the toilet, in a wheelchair.
• Eating and drinking (I need to be fed at the moment)
• Be adaptable and help as required as my condition changes

The role could also involve the following tasks:
• Preparing food
• Getting shopping
• Do anything else to help me in the house, including helping my parents
• Other needs that develop as my condition changes

Desirable
I’d prefer if:

• You were female.
• You have previous experience.
• You speak Welsh.

I will need my PA to:

Respect and understand the importance of privacy and confidentiality.
Be confident, mature and have patience.
Be dependable and arrive on time.

Concerning the position

A trial period will be necessary in the first instance in the form of a three-month probationary period. Salary will be paid monthly (Annual leave is calculated on a pro rata basis). A DBS MUST be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where applicant is eligible.
