Job summary

Northern Powergrid, part of Berkshire Hathaway Energy GSOC, is seeking a Cyber Security Analyst to join the Digital & Innovation team in Leeds/Sunderland. You will play a key role in 24×7 security monitoring, incident response and continual improvement of our cyber protection, detection and response infrastructure.

The role requires 3–5+ years in information security, SIEM experience (QRadar, XSOAR, MS Sentinel or Splunk) and the ability to lead investigations end-to-end while mentoring

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in information security, SOC operations or related fields.
• High level understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Experience coaching or leading junior team members is advantageous.
• Demonstrated experience with SIEM tools, network security and incident response processes.
• Ability in alert triage, threat analysis, log analysis and vulnerability management.
• Understanding of networking, cloud security and common attack techniques.
• Certifications or RFQ qualifications listed in essential/desirable criteria.

Responsibilities

• Lead investigation of complex alerts across SIEM, endpoints and network assets.
• Own incidents end-to-end with enrichment, containment and recovery.
• Conduct advanced log and forensic analysis across multiple platforms.
• Investigate phishing, malware, vulnerabilities and advanced threats.
• Develop and tune detection use cases to improve coverage and reduce false positives.
• Configure and manage endpoint security tooling and response actions.
• Support firewall and network security engineering and tooling improvements.
• Maintain incident records and audit-ready documentation.
• Support threat hunting and proactive risk identification.
• Contribute to playbooks, cyber exercises and shift handovers.
