Job summary

Orion Electrotech Automation in Bristol is seeking an SMT Technician for a permanent, Monday-to-Friday daytime role with an early finish on Fridays. You will work on high-end electronics across space, defence and motorsport in a clean, modern setting.

Responsibilities include setting up and operating SMT equipment (printers, reflow ovens, pick-and-place), reading build instructions and drawings, first-off inspections, AOI support, machine calibration and ESD/MSL‑conscious handling.

Qualifications

• Experience in an SMT production role.
• Able to read build instructions and drawings.
• Comfortable using Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate SMT equipment including printers, reflow ovens, and pick-and-place machines.
• Prepare inventory, feeders and materials for production runs.
• Read build instructions and interpret engineering drawings.
• Perform first‑off inspections and support AOI fault review.
• Calibrate and maintain machines for optimal performance.
• Handle components with ESD precautions and MSL awareness.
