Portfolio Underwriting Director – SME e-Trade

London | Up to £125,000 + bonus & benefits | Hybrid

I’m recruiting for a market‑leading MGA, backed by a major international group, for a Portfolio Underwriting Director to support the Head of Property & Casualty on the next phase of growth in SME e‑traded commercial combined.

Key Responsibilities

• Shape and deliver underwriting plans, support underwriting and pricing strategy, and get involved in product development and go‑to‑market.
• Act as a senior point of contact for capacity providers and key partners, handle complex referrals, and support binder performance management – spotting trends, recommending actions, and working with Data & Actuarial to turn insight into decisions.
• Help maintain strong underwriting frameworks, governance and licensing structures across binders.

Qualifications

• 10+ years’ experience, a solid MGA background, strong SME commercial package/combined (ideally e‑trade) exposure, and hands‑on binder/delegated authority experience.
• Analytical, commercially sharp, comfortable with portfolio and pricing performance, and confident engaging senior stakeholders.
