Job description
Overview

Veterinary Surgeon – Greater Manchester

This practice, open since 2000, has been proudly serving the Greater Manchester community as a locally owned practice dedicated to delivering exceptional veterinary care. They are now looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join an established and supportive team, helping them continue to provide the high-quality service that their loyal clients have come to expect.

Role Details

This is a part-time position of around 20 hours per week, with participation in the 1 in 4 weekend rota. They welcome applications from vets who prefer a consult-only role, as they’re happy to shape the position to suit the right person.

Support and Development

Professional growth and development are at the heart of what they do, so CPD and certificate study are highly encouraged and supported. For the right candidate, the role offers excellent rates of pay up to £70,000 FTE, depending on experience.

Practice and Team

The practice is independently run by partners who lead a fantastic, close-knit team committed to providing outstanding service to clients and their pets. Their dedication has created a genuine sense of pride and belonging among the team, fostering a positive culture built on support, fairness and shared success. Staff retention is excellent, which means continuity of care for clients and a workplace where everyone feels valued.

Location and Environment

The practice enjoys a superb location, just seven miles from Manchester city centre. The tram stop is outside the practice, making commuting easy, and Manchester Airport is conveniently close. The area offers access to the city’s cultural attractions as well as the Peak District for outdoor enthusiasts.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will bring good surgical and diagnostic skills to complement the existing three-vet team. You’ll be a collaborative team player who enjoys working in a busy yet friendly environment. You’ll also be supported by a team of five qualified nurses and five receptionists, all of whom play a key role in maintaining the warm, professional atmosphere that defines the practice.

Offer and Benefits

In return, they offer a supportive and friendly working environment, along with opportunities for career development and an attractive employment package. This includes a competitive salary of up to £70,000 FTE depending on experience, generous CPD funding with support for certificates, private healthcare, paid professional memberships including RCVS and VDS, and no out-of-hours requirements.
