CAPTION:
Small Animal & Equine Veterinary Surgeon - Whitby, North Yorkshire
Salary: £40,000-£75,000+ DOE | Full-Time | Permanent
An independent, family-run veterinary practice in beautiful Whitby is seeking an experienced Small Animal & Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly, four-vet team.
The role is predominantly small animal, with opportunities to develop equine skills through lameness investigations, dentistry, vaccinations and routine equine care. The practice also works with marine wildlife rescue organisations and a local wildlife sanctuary.
The recently extended, purpose-built practice offers excellent facilities, including digital and dental X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy and multi-parameter monitoring. Equine facilities include digital radiography, dental X-ray and modern dentistry equipment.
The team works four days per week, 8:30 am-6:30 pm, with a set day off and protected time for administration and lunch.
The on-call rota includes one night per week and one weekend in four. Small animal out-of-hours cases are transferred to a dedicated provider from Friday evening to Monday morning, while the practice maintains its own 24/7 equine emergency service. Additional support is available for less experienced vets.
Whitby offers an enviable coastal lifestyle, with beautiful beaches, independent restaurants, famous fish and chips and plenty of outdoor activities. The North York Moors National Park, coastal walking routes and opportunities for surfing and paddleboarding are all close by.
This is an excellent opportunity for a vet seeking a varied clinical role, genuine professional development and the chance to join an independent practice with a strong community ethos.
