Working Pattern : Full Time - 40hrs Per Week

Salary Range £38,000-£42,000

What We Do : The Employability and Entrepreneurship Department at GBS is dedicated to preparing students for successful careers and business ventures. It offers tailored one-to-one guidance, a dynamic online Careers Hub via Handshake, and a structured Employability Award that builds critical job‑seeking skills through Bronze to Platinum levels. Students gain practical experience in CV building, networking, and real job applications, including tools like ChatGPT.

The role : The Skills Educator will play a pivotal role in equipping students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to progress into professional‑level employment, entrepreneurial ventures, and other professional opportunities. Through targeted interventions, collaborative teamwork, and integration of employability within the curriculum, the Skills Educator will empower students to overcome barriers to succeed and achieve their career aspirations.

What the role involves :

Student Support

Deliver one-to-one and group interventions tailored to support students in accessing and progressing into professional‑level employment, entrepreneurial roles, and volunteer opportunities.

Provide personalised advice, training, and resources to address specific barriers to employment or enterprise success.

Guide students in building their entrepreneurial skills, fostering innovative thinking and business acumen.

Training and Development

Design and deliver workshops, seminars, and practical sessions to address employability and enterprise skills based on student cohorts or identified needs.

Facilitate learning experiences that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.

Collaboration and Coordination

Work as part of a campus-based team to coordinate advice, guidance, and training interventions.

Collaborate with academic colleagues and external partners to integrate employability and enterprise effectively within all modules and learning pathways /

Confidence and Motivation Building

Empower learners to build confidence and self‑esteem, enabling them to pursue employment, volunteering, mentoring and entrepreneurial activities.

Encourage resilience and adaptability, preparing students for the dynamic demands of the job market or starting their own business.

Monitoring and Reporting

Track student progress and outcomes from interventions, maintaining accurate and timely records.

Provide regular updates and feedback to academic team and stakeholders on employability and enterprise initiatives.

What Experience / Skills are required :

Essential :

A degree in Careers Guidance, Business, Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Proven experience in delivering employability or enterprise education in Higher Education or a similar setting.

Demonstrated ability to design and deliver effective group workshops and individual coaching sessions.

Experience in supporting diverse student groups and addressing barriers to employment or enterprise success.

Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.

Knowledge of current labour market trends, industry needs, and entrepreneurship pathways.

Passionate about supporting student success and fostering entrepreneurial thinking.

Collaborative and team‑oriented, with a proactive approach to problem‑solving.

Flexible and adaptable, able to work across campuses and occasionally during evenings or weekends.

Desirable :

Relevant certifications in employability, enterprise, or coaching are advantageous.
