Job summary

The City of Fort Worth is seeking a Skilled Trades Technician I to perform general park maintenance duties across the city’s park system as part of the Park & Recreation Department. This full-time role requires HVAC and electrical skills, plus the ability to work on varied schedules and events.

Ideal candidates have a HS diploma/GED with related training and at least 2 years of relevant experience, and hold a valid Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

• HS diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in HVAC, electrical technology, or a related field.
• Two (2) years of responsible experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and electrical systems.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Assist in electrical repairs
• Assist in preparing assigned facility or building for special events
• Apply paint with sprayer or with brush
• Perform roofing work in the construction, alteration, repair or maintenance of all types of roofs
• Weld for the construction of building, gates, and related devices
• Repair of existing playground structures
• Order materials necessary to complete work, repair and/or replacement of existing site amenities (i.e. Picnic tables, benches, trash cans, grills, etc.)
• Small Capital Construction – assist in construction of Capital Improvement, to include but not limited to installation of concrete walks, slabs or foundations (forming steel, finishing) and typical park furnishings

Pay Range: $21.26 - $26.57 | $44,219 - $55,273 annual compensation

A full-time Skilled Trades Technician I job is available with the City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department in our Planning and Resource Management Division. You will be responsible for performing general park maintenance duties throughout the City’s park system.

Minimum Qualifications:

• HS diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in HVAC, electrical technology, or a related field
• Two (2) years of responsible experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and electrical systems
• Valid Texas Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with heavy equipment operation, concrete finishing, fence repair, setting pavers, welding, and carpentry work

Working Conditions and Physical Demand

Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

Heavy Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
