Job description
So, what will I be doing?

We are on the lookout for an experienced Skilled Machine Operator to join our diverse, friendly and passionate Production Team at Yeo Valley Newton Abbot. This is one of our largest production sites and offers the opportunity to play an important part in helping us deliver high‑quality products to our customers across the UK. You will thrive in a fast‑paced production environment, have a ‘can‑do’ attitude and a strong work ethic.

This role provides an opportunity to learn new skills and further build a career in manufacturing.

The shift patterns for the role are based on a 4‑on‑4‑off pattern: 07:00‑19:00 or 08:00‑20:00 daily. This is based in our Low Risk, Operations & High Risk teams.

Also, you will become a co‑owner at Yeo Valley, taking advantage of our benefits package that includes a non‑contributory pension, co‑ownership of the company that includes a yearly bonus, and a healthcare cashback plan.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Embracing Health & Safety and Quality requirements.
  • Packing well‑known products.
  • Operating a wide variety of machinery (filling, packing, forming, or CNC machines).
  • Demonstrating a commitment to delivery, leading by example, and completing paperwork accurately.
  • Applying current GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
  • Taking apart, cleaning, and rebuilding production equipment.
  • Any other duties as reasonably required.
We’re sure you don’t need convincing, but there’s a whole host of benefits that we offer. It goes without saying that you'll have access to free parking, top‑of‑the‑range personal protection equipment (PPE), and your own locker. You'll also receive the following:
  • Competitive holiday allowance.
  • Non‑contributory pension scheme.
  • Life cover.
  • Healthcare cash‑back plan.
  • Cycle‑to‑work scheme.
  • Subsidised Yeo Valley products and services.
  • Preferential rates with our partners.
  • Learning and development opportunities; we’re committed to ensuring all our employees have the chance to grow.
Sounds interesting, what do I need?
  • Experience operating machinery (filling, packing, forming, or CNC machines).
  • Good communication skills and effective use of numeracy and literacy for documentation and record‑keeping.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding role.
  • A personal commitment to maintaining high cleaning and hygiene standards.
  • Willingness to work 12‑hour shifts.
  • Highly engaged.
  • A good team player.
  • An ability to work unsupervised.
Why should I join the family?

We’re independent, British and proud to produce the highest‑quality yogurts, desserts and ice cream under the Yeo Valley brand for many of the UK’s major retailers. Operating from four dairies and two logistics centres in Somerset and Devon, we employ over 1,700 staff and produce more than 25% of the UK’s packaged yogurt. We’re sure you don’t need convincing, but there’s a whole host of benefits that we offer, including 20 days’ holiday (including bank holidays), a non‑contributory pension scheme, life cover, healthcare cash‑back plan, cycle‑to‑work scheme, subsidised Yeo Valley products and services, preferential rates with our partners, an annual bonus (as part of the Employee Benefit Trust, based on company performance for the year), and learning and development opportunities. Our closing dates are a guide for when the application window should close, although we may close the advert sooner if we can. So, we recommend you get your application in straight away – and don’t miss the opportunity to join us! Unfortunately, we’re not able to provide employment sponsorship to candidates at this moment in time. Please note that Yeo Valley does not accept speculative agency applications; we will only accept applications.
