About the Role - Skilled Mechanic

Do you want to be part of our energetic team of HGV/PSV/bus mechanical engineers and maintenance staff repairing our fleet of buses? If yes, then this Shift Mechanic position at our Chelmsford depot could just be the job for you! It offers technical up-skilling and career progression.

• Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement
• Diagnose vehicle faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used
• Carry out vehicle servicing and routine vehicle examinations using hand held data capture devices if applicable
• Attend on-road vehicle breakdowns and recoveries
• Carry out vehicle road testing where necessary to identify specific vehicle defects or following remedial repair.

Location: Chelmsford

Hours: 39 per week, 4 days out of 7 (including weekends) on a rotating pattern of early shifts 05:00-15:00 and late shifts 14:30-00:30

Salary: £23.01 per hour - overtime also available

About you

• Do you have at minimum a Level 3 NVQ standard of equivalent qualification as a HGV/PSV or bus mechanic?
• Do you have a flexible approach to working hours?
• A PCV licence is desirable, ability to obtain PCV licence is essential (we will help you obtain this)
• Do you hold a valid MOT inspectors' ticket or be able to gain one from a course we would provide?
• Must have a valid UK driver's licence
• Experience of working with buses & coaches would be an advantage, but any vehicle mechanic experience will be considered (HGV)
• Do you have vehicle/auto electrical experience/knowledge?
