Manpower UK is sourcing a Skilled Machinist in Abingdon to operate manual lathes and produce precision components to tight tolerances. The role offers £31,200 to £37,050 annually, based on 37 hours weekly with occasional overtime.

You will read engineering drawings, perform turning, boring, trepanning, roughing and finishing operations, and machine stainless steel, alloys, brass, copper and plastics. Time-served apprenticeship and 3 years’ experience required.

Qualifications

Job description

This permanent Skilled Machinist role in Abingdon offers £31,200 to £37,050 annually, equating to £16-£19 per hour depending on experience. Working 37 hours weekly with occasional overtime, the successful candidate will operate manual lathes to produce precision components to tight tolerances. Duties include reading engineering drawings, performing turning, boring, trepanning, roughing and finishing operations, and machining stainless steel, alloys, brass, copper and plastics. Routine upkeep of machinery and tooling also features. Applicants should bring strong manual lathe experience and willingness to learn larger equipment such as Binns & Berry machines and horizontal borers.

My client is a global leader in high-specification, low-temperature engineering equipment. They are expanding their workshop team and looking for a Skilled Machinist with strong manual lathe experience and a willingness to learn larger machines such as Binns & Berry and horizontal borers.
