Hydrosave is a trusted leader in water network management, dedicated to saving water and safeguarding critical infrastructure. Since 1994, we’ve combined technical excellence with innovative technologies to deliver smart, sustainable solutions across the UK. Our expert teams specialise in leakage detection, asset health assessment, and smart monitoring, helping the water industry and businesses access reliable, efficient services. As part of the South Staffordshire PLC Group, we benefit from shared expertise and support, enabling us to drive continual improvement and deliver lasting value. At Hydrosave, we’re professional, approachable, and committed to making a meaningful impact—now and for generations to come.

The Role

As a Leakage Detection Technician, you’ll play a vital part in identifying and reducing water loss across the network. This is a hands‑on, field‑based position where no two days are the same — you could be pinpointing complex leaks, quantifying leakage, or attending dry holes to validate previous findings. You’ll be part of a high-performing team that works with precision, pride, and purpose — knowing your efforts directly improve water efficiency, customer satisfaction, and sustainability. You’ll also have opportunities to earn weekend overtime, and we aim to be as flexible as possible to support a healthy work‑life balance.

What you’ll do
  • Carry out leakage detection and advanced survey work using specialist equipment and proven techniques.
  • Plan and execute efficient leakage survey campaigns in line with the Leakage Operating Model.
  • Conduct quantifications and dry hole attendance to verify and report on leakage findings.
  • Use your technical knowledge and deductive thinking to pinpoint complex leaks accurately.
  • Complete all work safely and in compliance with Health & Safety, NRSWA, and environmental standards.
  • Deliver first‑class customer service, ensuring all interactions reflect our Right First‑Time approach.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure safe working practices for yourself and others on site.
  • Support colleagues, share knowledge, and represent Hydrosave UK Ltd with professionalism and pride.
What you’ll need
Essential
  • Proven experience in leakage detection within the water industry.
  • Strong practical skills, with confidence using digital tools and leak detection equipment.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills — you’re approachable, professional, and solution‑focused.
  • A solid understanding of water distribution networks and leakage control principles.
  • A proactive mindset — you bring your own initiative, take ownership, and look for ways to improve how things are done.
  • A full UK driving licence.
Desirable
  • NRSWA accreditation.
  • Training in Manual Handling or Underground Cable Detection.
  • Prior experience working in a similar utility or field‑based technical role.
What you’ll get in return
  • Family‑Friendly Leave – Enhanced Maternity, Adoption, Paternity & Shared Parental Leave, Fertility Support, and up to 5 paid Carer’s Days.
  • Financial & Life Assurance – Life Assurance cover (role dependant) and a Company Pension Scheme with salary sacrifice options.
  • Health & Wellbeing – Employee Assistance Programme (8 counselling sessions) and 24/7 Virtual GP access for you and your dependents.
  • Lifestyle & Perks – Cycle to Work Scheme and My Premier Benefits discounts, cashback, and vouchers.
  • Professional Development – Hands‑on training and ongoing career development opportunities.
  • Inclusion & Belonging – Active People Networks – Disability & Neurodiversity, Unity+, Women’s Network, and more.
  • Performance & Recognition – Annual salary review, Reward & Recognition Scheme, and Long Service Awards.
