Job summary

eRecruitSmart is seeking an experienced Skilled Labourer to work across East Sussex, based in Uckfield. You will join a professional team on high-end residential conversions, refurbishments and energy-efficient new builds.

This is a self-employed position, 8 hours per day starting at 7:30am with two half-hour breaks. You will assist skilled trades, prepare worksites, move materials, and support carpentry tasks while keeping the site safe and organised.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Skilled Labourer on construction sites.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work using own initiative.
• Physically fit for manual work and able to carry out onsite tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assisting skilled tradespeople with day-to-day construction tasks.
• Preparing and maintaining work areas to ensure projects run efficiently.
• Loading, unloading and moving building materials and equipment.
• Carrying out general labouring duties on site.
• Supporting carpentry work where required.
• Keeping the site clean, safe and organised at all times.
• Working as part of a professional team to deliver high standards.

About the hours & salary

This is a self‑employed Skilled Labourer position working 8 hours per day, starting at 7.30am, with two half‑hour breaks and you will receive a salary of £150 per day, depending on experience.

About the role

As a Skilled Labourer, you will support the construction team across a range of exciting high‑end building projects, including bespoke conversions and energy‑efficient new build passive homes. This is a varied, hands‑on role where no two days are the same and your duties will include:

• Assisting skilled tradespeople with day‑to‑day construction tasks
• Preparing and maintaining work areas to ensure projects run efficiently
• Loading, unloading and moving building materials and equipment
• Carrying out general labouring duties on site
• Supporting first and second fix carpentry work where required
• Keeping the site clean, safe and organised at all times
• Working as part of a professional team to deliver projects to the highest standards

About you

To be successful in the role of Skilled Labourer, you must have / be:

• Previous experience working as a Skilled Labourer on construction sites
• A strong work ethic with a positive, can‑do attitude
• Reliable, punctual and able to work using your own initiative
• Physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual work
• Pride in producing high‑quality work
• Polite, professional and able to communicate courteously with clients and colleagues
• Own transport is essential due to travel between sites across East Sussex
