Skilled Aircraft Fitter – Aerospace Structures

£25.21 per hour, rising to £26.25 once stamped
Overtime: £30.26 per hour, rising to £31.50 once stamped
6-Month Ongoing Contract | 7-Day Fortnight | Days

Morson Edge is looking for a Skilled Aircraft Fitter to join a major aerospace structures manufacturing programme.

Seven working days across every fortnight, £25.21 per hour from the start and a route to £26.25 per hour once stamp approval is achieved. Stamp is typically achieved within 3–6 months, with overtime then increasing to £31.50 per hour. Eligible contractors travelling to site can also receive up to £800 per month towards travel and accommodation expenses.

The Role

Working within a specialist wing assembly environment, you’ll carry out precision structural fitting and metallic aircraft assembly using established aerospace tooling and build processes.

The work includes drilling, reaming, countersinking, percussion riveting, deburring and fettling, alongside Vanmar tooling, build jigs and CNC pillar drills including DONAU equipment. You’ll work to approved procedures, maintain right-first-time quality and complete work phase clearance through SAP.

The current shift is 07:00–18:45, working Monday–Wednesday and Saturday–Sunday in week one, then Thursday–Friday in week two.

Eligible contractors living over 50 miles from site can claim up to £700 per month, increasing to £800 over 75 miles, towards travel and accommodation expenses. Distance is determined using the AA Route Planner; receipts are required and expenses are subject to Tax and NI.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll need relevant aerospace manufacturing, aircraft production or structural fitting experience and either:

• Level 3 indentured engineering apprenticeship, or

• NVQ Level 3 plus 3–5 years’ aerospace experience

Strong practical fitting, hand-tool and metallic assembly skills are essential. Wing assembly, Vanmar, DONAU or SAP experience would be advantageous.

A practical trade test covers drilling, riveting, countersinking and bolting.
