Excel Recruitment are seeking a Skilled Engineer for a client based in Ballymena, Northern Ireland. The role focuses on maintaining plant and site services, diagnosing faults and implementing improvements in a busy manufacturing environment.

You will carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance, use a CMMS for work orders, and ensure safety and quality standards across operations. A proactive, team-oriented engineer with practical experience is ideal.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification with practical experience.
• 17th Edition Wiring Regulations – Electrical.
• 2+ years as a skilled engineering craftsman or technician.
• Strong fault-finding, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload.
• Good verbal and written communication; independent worker.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults, with an electrical lead.
• Complete repairs, installations, modifications, upgrades and refurbishment of plant and equipment.
• Support continuous improvement to reduce downtime and improve efficiency, productivity and product quality.
• Use the CMMS effectively and maintain engineering drawings where required.
• Obtain and sign out Permits to Work and follow isolation and lock-off procedures.
• Complete statutory checks and support audit requirements.
• Work closely with production and engineering teams.
• Ensure all work meets required engineering, quality, safety, hygiene and food safety standards.
• Support environmental and sustainability requirements and undertake relevant training.

Excel Recruitment are seeking a Skilled Engineer on behalf of their client based in Ballymena.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to join a busy manufacturing environment, carrying out maintenance, repairs and improvements to plant, machinery and site services.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Strong fault-finding, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• PC literate, including Microsoft Office.
• Experience with Permit to Work and Isolation & Lock Off procedures.

Hours

Weekly rotating shifts:

• 04:00 – 12:30
• 12:00 – 20:30

Overtime paid at x1.5 or x2 on a Sunday.
