Job summary

Edwards Vacuum currently seeks Skilled Electrical Operatives to support the production line at Clevedon, near Bridgwater. Duties include wiring cabinets and assembling looms to specification, with a focus on quality and safety in an industrial setting.

Transport is required, as the site is split between Clevedon and Bridgwater. The role offers hourly pay between £19.94 and £39.02 depending on shift, with a condensed Friday–Sunday contract option at the higher rate and a 25-day holiday

Qualifications

• Proven experience in electrical wiring or assembly.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Strong crimping and cable termination skills.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Electrical qualification or equivalent hands‑on experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out panel wiring and electrical interconnections.
• Build wiring looms and harnesses to specification.
• Perform wire and cable termination, including high-quality crimping.
• Install electrical plates, components and devices.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings and layout diagrams.
• Repair and replace wiring and electrical components as required.
• Complete relevant production and build documentation.
• Follow build notes and instructions provided by the Team Leader.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and product quality.

Job description

Skilled Electrical Operatives are required for a contract based in Bridgwater, with the core site situated in Clevedon, North Somerset (BS21). Pertemps Bristol Perm Hub is seeking candidates with their own transport for this role, which pays between £19.94 and £39.02 per hour depending on the shift pattern selected. A condensed weekend contract (Friday to Sunday, 12:30-00:30) offers the higher rate, while weekday morning and afternoon options are also available with temporary ongoing status. Duties will involve standard electrical installation and maintenance tasks within an industrial setting. Applicants must hold relevant qualifications and experience. Holiday entitlement includes 25 days plus eight bank holidays, accrued pro rata.

About the Role

Pertemps are currently recruiting Skilled Electrical Operatives on behalf of Edwards Vacuum, based in Clevedon. This role will support the production line by carrying out electrical build and wiring activities prior to testing. Duties include wiring cabinets, assembling looms and completing small electrical assemblies to the required specification and quality standards. Duties include:

• Carry out panel wiring and electrical interconnections
• Build wiring looms and harnesses to specification
• Perform wire and cable termination, including high-quality crimping
• Install electrical plates, components and devices
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings and layout diagrams
• Repair and replace wiring and electrical components as required
• Complete relevant production and build documentation
• Follow build notes and instructions provided by the Team Leader
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and product quality
• Carry out rework, corrections and modifications when required
• Maintain 5S standards and a clean, organised work area
• Use hand tools and lifting equipment safely
• Identify and report issues with materials, documentation or assembly
• Support other production areas and roles when required
