Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is looking for a Site Utilities Technician in Manchester. The role involves supporting utilities maintenance, managing contractors, and executing small projects. Qualified candidates will ideally have mechanical or electrical experience with NVQ Level 3. Competitive pay at £17.75 base rate, along with overtime and on-call premiums, starting ASAP.

Qualifications

  • Time served apprenticeship or proven competency needed.
  • Qualifications to work at height and operate MEWPs are required.
  • IOSH or relevant Permit training is beneficial.
  • Experience in lifting and slinging, legionella awareness is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support execution of utilities maintenance strategy.
  • Carry out daily inspections for defect management.
  • Manage contractors focusing on safety and quality.
  • Own small mechanical improvement projects.

Position -Site Utilities Technician
Job description
  • Support execution of utilities planned maintenance strategy - Experience and understanding of AHUs, cooling towers, water chillers, glycol systems, pumps, motors, fans and other mechanical equipment
  • Participate in the defect handling system for the department, carrying out daily inspection tours to identify and fix defects
  • Standardise methods and processes through the creation of technical standards
  • Manage 3rd party contractors including writing work permits and supervising contractors, with a key focus on excellence in safety and quality of execution.
  • Own small mechanical improvement projects for the department, engaging 3rd parties where necessary
Required Skills:
  • Ideally Time served apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3 (Mechanical or Electrical), or proven competency through experience
  • Qualified to work at height and operate MEWPs
  • IOSH and relevant Permit training beneficial
  • General Work Permit, Working at Height, Confined Space, Construction, Hot Work
  • Other beneficial training/experience - Lifting and slinging, legionella awareness and confined space entry.
  • Experience and proven competency sub-contractor management
  • Good Computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications
  • Technical mastery with excellent troubleshooting skills and good attention to detail
  • Ability to work under own initiative
Additional information for when sourcing

Both roles require similar skills/qualifications but work on different types of technology so successful candidates may have different experiences.

Proposed pay is line with P&G equivalent @ £17.75 base rate, overtime rates apply.

Successful candidates will need to join an on-call rota within their team which pays an additional premium of £110 for each week Rota'd with additional payments at overtime rate in the case of attending site.
