About the Role: Due to the retirement of our current Caretaker our teaching staff, the children, staff and governors of this happy and successful Infant and Nursery School have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, reliable and hardworking individual to join our friendly school team. We are looking for someone with physical stamina who is conscientious and self-motivated, has initiative and creativity, great observational skills and the ability to be pro-active in identifying and resolving tasks as they occur.

You will have a key role in maintaining our school to ensure a clean, safe, and secure learning environment for our pupils and the local community:

Responsibilities
  • Lock and / or unlock the school; to include locking up school each day.
  • Carry out and record security /site checks on the buildings and grounds.
  • Be responsible for the Health & Safety of those on site; help maintain Health and Safety records, including COSHH.
  • Maintenance of property and grounds to a high standard including carrying out daily safety checks, reactive repair works, litter picking, leaf clearance and snow clearance and gritting during adverse weather conditions.
  • Liaising with outside contractors undertaking work on behalf of the school.
  • Monitor site premises stock and order supplies.
  • Manage a team of 4 cleaners to provide a clean and safe environment.
  • Willingness to attend training courses including Health and Safety.
Contract and Work Schedule

Contracted hours are 20 per week with actual hours worked being mutually agreed. This would be a split am/pm shift. There will be occasional overtime required outside of contracted hours e.g. training, jobs linked to severe weather conditions, emergencies on site etc. The role is a part-time permanent contract over 52 weeks per year.

Leave and Benefits

An annual leave allowance of between 21 days – 26 days is available (dependant on local government length of service) plus 12 additional days which includes the 8 public bank holidays and 4 extra local authority days. Annual leave is to be taken during school holiday dates with prior agreement with the Senior Leadership Team.
