This is a full-time position responsible for the operational management, maintenance, security, and cleanliness of a busy academy site. The successful candidate will be a proactive, hands-on leader, playing a vital role in ensuring a safe and productive environment for students, staff, and visitors. The role requires a dedicated professional capable of taking initiative and providing essential support to the premises team.

  • Proven track record in premises management, site maintenance, or a similar facilities role, ideally within a school environment.

Core Responsibilities
  • Manage and execute a scheduled programme of general maintenance and repairs across the site.
  • Ensure the security of the building, including opening and closing the premises daily.
  • Oversee and monitor all external contractors working on school premises, ensuring compliance.
  • Conduct regular site inspections risk assessments, taking prompt corrective action.
  • Maintain effective records for statutory testing, maintenance logs, and compliance documentation.
  • Deputise for the Site Manager, including supporting the supervision of other site staff.
  • Ensure the school grounds and external areas are maintained to a high standard, including litter picking and basic grounds maintenance.
  • Manage and monitor the academy's heating, lighting, and alarm systems.
  • Be a key holder, responding to out-of-hours emergencies as required.
  • Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained across the site in collaboration with cleaning staff/contractors.
