Job summary

About The Team

What is the job role?

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and hardworking individual to join our friendly primary and nursery school team. The role requires physical stamina, conscientiousness, self‑motivation, initiative, creativity, excellent observational skills and the ability to be pro‑active in identifying and resolving tasks as they occur.

Who are we looking for?

Physical stamina and self‑motivation are essential. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, creativity, strong observational skills and proactive problem‑solving.

Key responsibilities
  • Lock and unlock the school; lock up each day.
  • Carry out and record security/site checks on the buildings and grounds.
  • Be responsible for the Health & Safety of those on site; help maintain Health and Safety records, including COSHH.
  • Maintain property and grounds to a high standard, carrying out daily safety checks, reactive repair works, litter picking, leaf clearance and snow clearance, and gritting during adverse weather conditions.
  • Liaise with outside contractors undertaking work on behalf of the school.
  • Monitor site premises stock and order supplies.
  • Manage a team of four cleaners to provide a clean and safe environment.
  • Willingness to attend training courses, including Health and Safety.
Additional candidate requirements

The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced criminal record check via the DBS. Following recommendations from Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) for an additional pre‑employment check with effect 1 Sept 22, please note an online search may form part of this recruitment process.
