JOB TITLE: Site Reliability Engineering Lead

SALARY: £90,440 - £106,400

LOCATION(S): Bristol

HOURS: Full-time - 35 hours per week

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Bristol office.

About this opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen in Analytics & AI Services Platform to join us as a Site Reliability Engineering Lead! Our platform enables the group to use AI, Data and automation to better understand and serve our customers. As a SRE Lead, you'll lead a large team (circa 20) in supporting, monitoring, and actively improving the stability and reliability of the products we own and build.

What you'll do
  • You'll be responsible for setting the direction for the SRE function and crafting the team that delivers this capability. You'll champion SRE practices, standards and processes and embed these across multiple feature teams.

  • You'll continuously improve the service level the team provides to our end users, thinking about application stability, customer satisfaction and strengthening incident and problem management practises. You'll ensure our products and services are monitored proactively, so we know about any issues before our customers do.

  • Metrics will keep you informed of where to make improvements to get the highest value returns when automating repetitive tasks.

  • This is a leadership role that means you'll mentor and develop a team of Engineers in a "player-coach" model that helps them grow their careers.

What you'll need
  • You'll have experience in providing SRE thought leadership and setting the technical direction for a SRE function. Among your strengths will be your passion for SRE practices including SLIs, SLOs, Error budgets and Toil removal.

  • You should be able to define and monitor success metrics and build dashboards using tools such as Dynatrace, Kibana and Splunk.

Additionally, you should have:

  • Experience running a support operation

  • Good technical leadership and experience leading a large multi-functional team (ideally 10+)

  • Broad technical knowledge across a range of platforms, technologies and methodologies

  • The ability to voice support for helping business and technical partners understand the benefits in SRE and DevOps

It would be great if you also had
  • Experience within financial services.
