Job summary

LVS Ascot is seeking a Site Porter to join the Estates team. The role supports daily porter tasks, deliveries, room setups, site security, and school vehicles in a busy school environment.

It is a practical, active position requiring a proactive approach, flexibility and pride in completing work to a high standard. The role offers 37.5 hours over Monday to Friday with a permanent contract.

Qualifications

• Practical and flexible approach with the ability to adapt to changing priorities without constant supervision.
• Physical capability to undertake regular manual handling safely.
• Strong spoken and written English, with professional communication to pupils, parents, visitors and colleagues.
• Basic computer skills and a solid awareness of health, safety and security.
• A full, clean UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Opening and securing school buildings, gates and facilities in line with procedures.
• Receiving, recording and distributing post, parcels and deliveries.
• Moving furniture, equipment and supplies safely around the site.
• Preparing rooms and spaces for assemblies, meetings, parents' evenings and major events.
• Responding to facilities requests and prioritising daily porter tasks.
• Supporting reception cover, contractor visits, traffic management and site security.
• Reporting maintenance, safety or security concerns and assisting with estates duties when required.

SITE PORTER

Salary: Competitive Salary
Location: LVS Ascot, Berkshire, SL5 8DR

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 52 weeks per year
Shifts: Alternating weekly between 6.00am to 2.00pm and 10.00am to 6.00pm

Contract: Full time, permanent
Start date: Mid September 2026, subject to completion of compliance checks
Closing date: 31 August 2026

THE ROLE

As Site Porter, you will be a key member of the in house Estates team, helping to coordinate daily porter tasks and supporting deliveries, room setups, site security, events and school vehicles.

This is an active, practical role for someone who notices what needs doing, responds calmly to changing priorities and takes pride in completing work properly.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Opening and securing school buildings, gates and facilities in line with school procedures.

• Preparing rooms and spaces for assemblies, meetings, parents' evenings and major events.

• Supporting reception cover, contractor visits, traffic management and site security.
• Reporting maintenance, safety or security concerns, maintaining accurate records and assisting with school vehicles and wider Estates duties when required.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

• A practical and flexible approach, with the ability to manage changing priorities without constant supervision.
• The physical capability to undertake regular manual handling safely.
• Strong spoken and written English, with the confidence to communicate professionally with pupils, parents, visitors, contractors and colleagues.
• Basic computer skills and a sound awareness of health, safety and security.
• A full, clean UK driving licence.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

Previous school experience would be useful but is not essential. Experience in facilities, logistics, warehousing, hospitality, events, maintenance or another busy service environment may transfer particularly well.
