Location: Seascale, Cumbria

About the Opportunity

We’re looking for a Project Engineer to support one of our major engineering clients, contributing to the successful delivery of construction and installation activities across a highly regulated site. This role offers the chance to work at the heart of a complex programme, applying your technical expertise to ensure work is delivered safely, accurately, and in line with project requirements.

You’ll collaborate with on‑site teams, designers, and subcontractors to keep work moving efficiently, while playing an important role in verifying constructability, resolving technical challenges, and maintaining quality standards throughout. This is a great opportunity for someone eager to develop their engineering and project delivery capabilities within a structured, supportive environment.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Providing engineering input throughout the construction cycle, ensuring lessons learned and asset constraints are embedded into delivery plans.
  • Reviewing and pre‑approving technical queries to support continuous progress on site.
  • Producing feasibility assessments and justification documents to support design decisions.
  • Offering day‑to‑day technical guidance to subcontractors, trades teams, and site personnel, while ensuring the design team receives accurate, up‑to‑date feedback from the field.
  • Managing defined areas of the site and supporting the coordination of construction activities.
  • Contributing to inspection processes and assisting with acceptance against construction orders.
  • Monitoring on‑site workmanship and verifying that installations meet required quality standards.
  • Setting out, surveying, and verifying site data to support accurate construction.
  • Checking drawings, models, and quantities to ensure information used on site is correct and complete.
  • Ensuring client‑supplied design documents are followed precisely and correctly implemented.
  • Maintaining configuration control of engineering documentation and site works.
  • Working closely with designers to ensure compliance with applicable design, safety, and construction regulations.
  • Preparing progress updates and reporting site information back to the client.
  • Planning work activities efficiently and adjusting to on‑site changes or technical challenges.
  • Using AutoCAD, Navisworks, and 3D scanning tools to capture site conditions and transfer accurate data to design teams.
  • Providing practical site‑based input into constructability and design reviews.
What You’ll Need
  • HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of plant systems and operational constraints.
  • FGMSP and PFSP induction (or willingness to complete).
  • C3 training, plus respirator and PVC competence.
  • Experience working in construction or engineering roles within regulated environments.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Confident communicator, able to liaise effectively with site teams, designers, and stakeholders.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Navisworks, and 3D scanning software (preferred).
  • Knowledge of radiological scanning or pull testing techniques is beneficial but not essential.
