Job summary

Mears Group is seeking a Site Manager to lead our SHDF retrofit programme for social housing. You will oversee planned works across housing properties, delivering high-quality service while meeting safety, quality and cost targets.

You will manage internal teams and subcontractors, ensure programme progression, and liaise with design teams and client representatives to uphold best practice. You will apply SMSTS, PAS 2035 knowledge and asbestos awareness to maintain compliance and protect

Qualifications

  • SMSTS qualification.
  • Experience as a site manager in refurbishment or housing environments.
  • Knowledge of PAS 2035 domestic retrofit.
  • EWI/CWI experience is desirable.
  • Asbestos Awareness.
  • First aid at work.
  • Experience with social housing refurbishment projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day delivery of planned works contracts and ensure KPI targets are met.
  • Coordinate internal and external works including insulation, windows, doors, storage heaters and roofing.
  • Supervise staff and sub-contractors; ensure compliance with H&S and CDM requirements.
  • Monitor progress via site visits; ensure resources, quality and on-time completion within budget.
  • Liaise with design teams, client representatives and consultants; report findings.
  • Maintain customer focus and professional communication with stakeholders.
  • Attend meetings and training; support HR processes and policy adherence.

“Our Planned and Retrofit branch is at the forefront of delivering high-quality improvement works across our portfolio—enhancing homes, increasing energy efficiency, and making a real difference in communities.” **About the Role:**As a Site Manager you will be working on our SHDF retrofit programme within the social housing background, providing a stable and profitable contract, delivering excellent service and support through our local teams, who understand the importance of working together for the local community you will be supporting Site Management activities for Planned Works Programmes to housing properties, delivering best in class customer service, and satisfying all safety, quality, and cost control standards * Manage the day-to-day operational delivery of planned work’s contract and all associated staff and ensuring contractual KPI’s targets are achieved and maintained* Managing internal and external works to include wall cavity insulation, new windows, doors, storage heaters and roofing to include scaffolding within properties, tower blocks and working at heights* Manage and monitor work programme progression and completion via ongoing site visits to ensure works are adequately resourced, being effectively delivered to set quality standard and completed on time and within budget* Management of employees and sub-contractors, ensuring compliance and adherence to H&S regulations, Mears standard operating procedures & values, quality assurance accreditations, CDM and the company’s commitment to best practice with legislation, codes of & good working practices relevant to all work activities* Carry out onsite inspections, undertake investigations, enquiries, prepare reports and offer solutions maintaining continuous improvement* Liaising with Design Teams, Client Representatives and Consultants* Provide management of employees’ performance, ensuring HR Policies & Procedures are followed* Ensure the customer experience is central to all activities by adopting a professional manner when communicating with all stakeholders, this includes but is not limited to appearance, company ID, maintaining a high standard of Health & Safety requirements* Follow and support policies, procedures, initiatives, and work instructions at all times and keep all supplied company assets in a good condition in line with the company policies, reporting to your manager where damages occur* Undertake any other duties as required by the company, provide back up to other site managers to cover any absences and attend informal and formal company & client meetings and training sessions as required **Role Criteria:*** SMSTS qualification* Previous experiece in a site manager role* Knowledge of PAS 2035 domestic retrofit* EWI/CWI Experience* Asbestos Awareness* First aid at work* Social housing refurbishment experience* UK Full Driving License* Working at heights to includer scaffold inspection experience* Knowledge of housing improvements measured term contracts and Schedule of Rates* Managing, monitoring, recording, and reporting of Health & Safety and compliance* Experience of managing sub-contractors* Health & Safety knowledge, including COSHH* Strong customer focus* Problem solving & results orientated* Ability to negotiate and influence* IT literate with confident oral and written communication skills* Thorough knowledge of CDM requirements **Benefits:** * Company Sick Pay* Employee can choose between 4% and 6% pension contribution which the company will match with Scottish Widows* Life Assurance (2x annual salary)* £4,000 annual car allowance or Company car* 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays* Family friendly policies including enhanced maternity (14 weeks full pay, 12 weeks half pay and 13 weeks statutory pay), paternity (2 weeks full pay) and adoption leave* Employee Assistance Programme - free confidential support and counselling available* Mears Rewards offering discounts and cashback at leading retailers including travel, household items and shopping* Annual Mears Fun Day - Our annual Fun Day is organised as a massive thank you from the Executive team for all the hard work!* Volunteering leave – up to two days per year to support community initiatives* Cycle to Work Scheme* Share save scheme* Recognition and long service awards* Buy up to 5 days holiday each year depending on length of service* Learning and development opportunities* Career progression opportunities across Mears Group* Occupational health support* Green car scheme with Tusker after successful probation period* Be part of an inclusive workplace with access to a range of colleague networks and support groups focused on diversity, wellbeing and career development.
