Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is seeking a mechanically biased Site Manager for a major data centre project in Stevenage. The role involves overseeing critical mechanical works, chiller installation, flushing and testing, with strict health and safety and quality expectations.

The position is outside IR35, initially four months with potential extension. SC clearance is required; immediate start available at £400 per day.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Site Manager on construction or engineering projects.
• Strong understanding of mechanical building services installations.
• Experience with chilled water systems, HVAC, flushing, pressure testing or commissioning.
• SMSTS and CSCS qualifications.

Job DescriptionSite Manager (Mechanical) - Data Centre Project Stevenage £400 per day | Outside IR35 Initial 4-Month Contract SC Clearance Required

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site Manager to join a major data centre construction project in Stevenage, overseeing critical mechanical works on a fast-paced and technically challenging build.

We are looking for a hands‑on Site Manager with strong mechanical knowledge and experience managing specialist building services installations.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for key project activities including chiller installation, flushing, pressure testing, subcontractor management, quality assurance and health & safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee mechanical installation activities across the project.
• Manage and coordinate chiller installation works.
• Supervise system flushing and pressure testing activities.
• Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards.
• Review RAMS, permits and site documentation.
• Coordinate subcontractors and maintain strong site standards.
• Monitor compliance with CDM Regulations and project-specific HSE requirements.
• Report progress and site performance to the wider project team.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience working as a Site Manager on construction or engineering projects.
• Strong understanding of mechanical building services installations.
• Experience with chilled water systems, HVAC, flushing, pressure testing or commissioning activities.
• SMSTS and CSCS qualifications.
• Excellent health & safety awareness and site leadership skills.

Desirable Experience

• Previous data centre experience would be highly advantageous; however, we are keen to speak with candidates from other highly regulated environments, including: Life Sciences
